This is the stable release of RISC OS for the Kinetic RiscPC and emulators such as RPCEmu. It includes a flash programming tool for the Kinetic RiscPC only.
If you have an A7000/A7000+, a RiscPC 600, RiscPC 700, or StrongArm Risc PC, you should consider either the softload version of the download or purchasing the ROMs instead.
Before installing this upgrade, you will need to ensure the !Boot sequence has been updated such that no 26 bit applications are run that might otherwise halt booting. For this reason you are strongly advised to try out the softload on a Kinetic RiscPC before reprogramming flash memory.
On a Kinetic RiscPC, use the flash programming tool provided in the archive.
On RPCEmu, install the ROM image in the “roms” folder. Delete (or move elsewhere) any other ROM images already in that folder.
Where networking is required, use of a network interface card (NIC ) residing in the motherboard socket is recommended. Those widely available with 10baseT sockets include:
Driver name | Chipset | Brand |
---|---|---|
EtherH | Macronix MX98905 | i-cubed/DesignIT/Acorn |
EtherB | SEEQ 80C04/80C04A/8005 | ANT |
EtherY | SMSC LAN91C111 | Castle Technology |
EtherM | Myson MTD908F | ANT (no planned support) |
EtherX | ASIX AX88796 | Simtec (contact supplier for information) |
For a list of supported Ethernet cards, see Software information: RiscPC: NIC drivers.
See Software information: RiscPC: NIC drivers for further information on updated drivers for the EtherB, EtherH and EtherY cards.
Go to RiscPC downloads and download the IOMD stable (flash prog) archive.
