The “Territories” directory in the Bonus binaries download contains modules for a selection of territories, with information on how to use these as a basis for internationalisation.
This is one of a group of applications and modules distributed as Bonus Binaries – software considered unsuitable for inclusion in the standard HardDisc4 image. They are primarily of interest to developers, and are made available on the “half a loaf” principle: the pressing need for software that performs these tasks outweighs the inconvenience of the unfinished and/or anachronistic behaviour of the software itself.
RISC OS uses the concept of “territories” to allow for internationalisation (e.g. different languages, alphabets, keyboard layouts). This is controlled by the TerritoryManager and the International module.
Individual territories have their own Territory module (RISC OS is built with the UK module as default).
For RISC OS to use a different territory, you will need:
Further setup details can be found in a “ReadMe” file inside the “Modules.Territories” directory of the Bonus Binaries download.
If you have the RISC OS 3 PRMs, the chapter on the International module starts on page 3-767 and the chapter on the Territory Manager starts on page 3-793. Pages 5a-589 and 5a-679 are also relevant.
If you are experiencing problems with a territory module, first check to see if a ticket has been raised on the Bug tracker page. You may also want to visit the Bugs forum.
If you have a general query related to the software, you can enquire on the Community Support forum.
