The Wimp allows any Outline font to be displayed. However, it is good practice to use the Desktop font rather than a font specified by an application.
The system font can also be used within the Wimp. This practice is now deprecated.
The system font was a standard 8 by 8 pixel character set whose use was necessary before the introduction of Outline Fonts. These can be tailored to specific requirement. E.g. Anti-Aliasing, Bold, Kerning etc…
The Wimp defines the system font to be 16 OS units wide by 32 OS units high regardless of screen resolution in use. This may result in scaling to ensure that its physical size is constant.
Note: An Outline font has been created specifically to mimic the look of the system font.
